SimplexGrinnell Special Certification Program

Here is an excerpt from a communication sent out to SG district management by Jerry Joullian (SimplexGrinnell, Director of Training).

"Since Jim Spicer's communication on the Technician Training and Certification Initiative, we have been working with a large number of the districts to increase the number of technicians and installers that have completed the training and certification process.

As part of this initiative, we recognized that there might be some senior, experienced techs that have acquired knowledge and skills on the job and who would not substantially benefit from attending the classroom instruction. For these experienced techs, we are offering an opt-out option in lieu of classroom training attendance. Upon successful completion of the special opt-out exam, the classroom requirement for certification will be waived. If the tech does not pass the exam, he or she will have to complete the classroom training session to complete the certification requirements.

Based on input from field management and experienced techs, specific training and experience requirements were established to be eligible to test out of the classroom session."

These additional requirements are listed in the side bars
and on the Opt-Out Application form.
